It has been another wonderful year for the club and we have all enjoyed it immensely. We have approximately 90 registered members, aged from 6 years to 30+ and entered teams in the West Cork and County competitions at the following grades: - Under 12, Under 13, Under 14, Under 16, Minor, Intermediate and Senior levels.

Our Under 12 team won most of their games in the West Cork sector. They reached the semi-final of the County but were well beaten by Boherbue who went on to win the competition. They did not win any trophies but enjoyed taking part in the game. We did not participate in Community Games this year, as we did not have sufficient numbers.

Indoors training for our younger girls, aged 6 to 12 years, has already commenced in the Sports Hall on Monday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. New members are always welcome as are any adults who wish to get involved with the club at any level.

Unfortunately, The U13 girls had to withdraw from the Féile competition due to lack of numbers available on the day.

Our Under 14 girls reached the West Cork League final but were beaten by a strong Rosscarbery side.

Our Under 16 girls reached the semi-final of the County championship but were under-strength on the day and were narrowly beaten by Dromtariffe.

Our Minor girls reached the West Cork final but at the time of writing this game has yet to be played due to unavailability of pitches because of the bad weather.

Our Intermediate team took part in the Senior championship but were well beaten in both games. They represented Cork in the Munster Club championship but lost out to Athea of Limerick by 2 points. In the Senior B championship, they had convincing wins over Gabriel Rangers and Liscarroll but were beaten by Ballingeary in the final. Earlier in the year, they took part in and won the Páidí O’Sé tournament in Dingle. We also had our annual trip to Dublin to play in the 7-a-side competition and attend the Ladies All Ireland final. All who travelled had a great weekend.

Congratulations to all the girls who represented Beara in the Cork County Panels at all levels. Rachael O’Shea was on the Cork Under14 team who won the All Ireland. She was also on the Under 16 panel. At Minor level, Maureen O Sullivan captained the Cork team and Patricia Dunne was also a member. They won the All Ireland Shield. We did not have any players on the Cork Senior or junior team this year.

Berehaven Credit Union is our main sponsor and we are very grateful for their continued support. A special word of thanks to our trainers for their hard work and dedication; also to the players for their efforts and commitment, and to everyone, both on and off the field, who helped the supported us in any way.

To celebrate our achievements during the year, we will be holding our Annual presentation night on Saturday, December 12th at the Forge Nite Club. The evening begins with our Annual General Meeting, followed by presentation of medals and certificates. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a disco for all ages. This is always a very enjoyable occasion and everyone is welcome. For further information, please contact any member of the committee.

Mary Power, SECRETARY.
